Independent Expert Witness Services

Dr Abhi Pal offers the services of an Independent Expert Witness in dental matters. His work includes clinical assessments, reports and attendance at courts and hearings. He has been receiving instructions from solicitors since 2001 in dento-legal matters. He has also been working as PCT Dental Adviser to Birmingham PCTs since 2001 where he advises the PCT in dealing with dental complaints. He has been awarded the Expert Witness Certificate from Cardiff University Law School and is an Individual Member of the Expert Witness Institute.

His combined experience in clinical matters (particularly related to general dental practice), teaching, and dento-legal matters allows him to provide independent, objective and impartial opinions based on current good practice in dentistry. He receives instructions from both claimant solicitors as well from dentists’ insurance companies. His claimant: defendant ratio is 60:40. In addition he has been instructed by regulatory bodies such as the General Dental Council in Professional Conduct cases.

His field of expertise is any treatment or other matter related to general dental practice, restorative dentistry (crowns, bridges, fillings, root treatments, gum disease), dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, and NHS dentistry. He provides reports for cases involving personal injury (involving damage to the face and teeth through accidents), breach of duty of care and professional conduct. Dr Pal is fully conversant with the duty of experts as laid down in the Civil Procedure Rules Part 35 and with court protocol.
